Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
New Wings Counseling has decided not to directly accept insurance for a number of reasons. We feel that it is critical for people in counseling to feel secure that all their information is held in the highest confidentiality. When you use insurance, they require you to be diagnosed with a mental illness. They have access to this, as well as your treatment plans, prognosis, and treatment notes. All of these will be in your permanent medical record. If you wish to get life insurance or other types of insurance, your receiving mental health treatment and having a diagnosis on your medical record could result in a denial. By paying for treatment out of pocket, your information stays with your therapist and yourself, as it should. We do not feel anyone else should have access to this.
What is the cost for each session?
A session for an individual is $130.
Individual assessment/Initial session (60 min,.) is $160
How long will I be in therapy?
Each person who comes to counseling is different. Some people come for just one problem, and others come for more intense work. Often psychotherapy opens up new issues and concerns. So your length of treatment really depends on the goals you have.
